Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: 06/01/2026
At Day4Camp, we believe in being completely transparent with our readers. This page explains how we make money, how affiliate links work, and why you can still trust our recommendations.
1. How We Make Money
Day4Camp is a free resource. We don’t charge for our gear reviews, camping guides, or checklists. Instead, we earn revenue in two ways:
- Affiliate commissions: When you click a link on our site and buy a product, we may earn a small commission from the retailer. This costs you nothing extra.
- Display advertising: We show ads on some pages through advertising partners. These ads help cover our operating costs.
Both of these revenue streams allow us to keep the site free, pay for hosting and tools, and spend time researching and writing honest content for families like yours.
2. What Are Affiliate Links?
Some of the links in our gear reviews, comparisons, and buying guides are “affiliate links.” This means that if you click one of these links and make a purchase, Day4Camp receives a small commission from the retailer.
The price you pay is exactly the same as if you went directly to the store without clicking our link. There is zero additional cost to you.
3. Affiliate Programs We Participate In
Day4Camp participates in the following affiliate programs:
Amazon Associates Program
Day4Camp is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
Other affiliate programs
In addition to Amazon, Day4Camp may participate in affiliate programs from:
- REI Co-op Affiliate Program (via AvantLink)
- Backcountry Affiliate Program (via AvantLink)
- YETI Affiliate Program (via CJ Affiliate / AvantLink)
- Coleman / Marmot / Osprey / Big Agnes (via AvantLink)
- GSI Outdoors Affiliate Program
- Bass Pro Shops / Cabela’s Affiliate Program
- Cotopaxi Affiliate Program
- Hipcamp Referral Program
- Camping World (via CJ Affiliate)
- ShareASale network partners
- Impact Radius network partners
- Other brand-direct affiliate programs added over time
We will update this list as we join new programs.
4. Does This Affect Our Recommendations?
Short answer: no.
Our editorial commitment is clear:
- We never recommend a product just because it pays a higher commission. A product that pays 15% commission but isn’t good for families will never make our “Best Of” lists.
- We always point out flaws and limitations, even for products that earn us commissions. If a tent leaks in heavy rain, we’ll tell you, even if it has an affiliate link.
- Our ratings and rankings are based on objective research, specification analysis, verified user reviews, hands-on testing when possible, and our editorial judgment about what works best for families with kids.
- Every product list includes a budget-friendly option, because not everyone can afford premium gear, and expensive doesn’t always mean better.
- If a product isn’t good, we say so clearly, even if it has an affiliate link attached.
We’d rather lose a commission than lose your trust.
The trust of our readers is worth more than any commission. If we recommend bad products, we lose readers. Our business depends on you trusting us. That’s the incentive that keeps us honest.
5. Display Advertising
In addition to affiliate links, Day4Camp may display banner ads on the site through platforms such as Google AdSense, Ezoic, Mediavine, or other advertising partners.
These ads are managed by third parties and may use cookies to display ads based on your interests or browsing history. For more information about cookies and how to manage them, see our Privacy Policy.
We do not control which specific ads appear on our site, but we work with reputable ad networks and strive to ensure ads don’t interfere with your reading experience.
6. How to Spot Affiliate Links
To maintain transparency, every article that contains affiliate links includes a disclosure notice at the top. It looks like this:
- Disclosure: Day4Camp is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend gear we’d trust for our own family.
Additionally, buttons labeled “Check Price on Amazon,” “Check Price at REI,” “Buy at [retailer],” or similar calls to action are always affiliate links.
7. Why We Use Affiliate Links
Creating quality content takes time, research, and resources. Revenue from affiliate commissions and advertising allows us to:
- Keep the site running (hosting, domain, tools, software).
- Spend hours researching and comparing products so you don’t have to.
- Offer all our content completely free, with no paywall or subscription.
- Continue growing and covering more gear categories and camping topics.
- Occasionally purchase products for hands-on testing.
When you buy through our links, you’re directly supporting the work we do. It’s the easiest way to help us keep creating free camping guides and reviews for families. We appreciate it.
8. FTC Compliance
Day4Camp complies with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines regarding the use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising. We clearly and conspicuously disclose our affiliate relationships as required by 16 CFR Part 255.
9. Questions?
If you have any questions about our affiliate relationships, how we make money, or how we choose which products to recommend, we’d love to hear from you:
